1. Differences between serial LCD and parallel LCD modules: Internal structure


The LCD module of the parallel port mainly includes: a liquid crystal display controller, a parallel port controller, an SDRAM controller and the like. Under the control of the clock chip, the data transmitted by the parallel port is temporarily stored, that is, what is displayed when it is transmitted.

The internal structure of the serial lcd module is relatively more complicated than that of the parallel port. It mainly includes: LCD display controller, SDRAM controller serial communication controller, FLASH controller, bus controller, etc. The serial LCD module accepts the command from the host computer through the serial port, and then executes the corresponding display operation after translation. The content to be displayed has been stored in FLASH, and can be displayed directly after receiving the instruction.

 

2. Differences between serial LCD and parallel LCD modules: Write speed


Liquid crystal displays are ultimately determined by each pixel, so their writing speed is determined by the manufacturing structure. The speed of the parallel port structure changes with the speed of the host computer. The writing speed of the serial lcd module is mainly determined by the baud rate of the serial port.
